Most wedding planning advice tells you what to do, but not in what order. That's the gap. The wedding planning timeline — the step-by-step sequence from engagement to wedding day — is the actual framework that separates couples who feel in control from those who feel perpetually behind.

Here's the correct order. Don't skip steps.

Phase 1: The Foundations (As Soon as You're Engaged)

Before you book a single vendor, do these three things:

1. Set your budget — a real number, not a wish. Include a 10% buffer. If you don't know the number, you'll make every decision by instinct and overspend.
2. Decide on a rough guest count — it dictates venue size, catering cost, and invite budget.
